Yummy Cupcakes

2 heaped table spoons of soft butter
4 heaped table spoons of caster sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
¼ cup of milk
6 heaped table spoons of Self Raising Flour
Butter icing


  • Pre-heat the oven to 190 ºC
  • Put coloured paper cup cake liners into the cup cake tins
  • Use a wooden spoon and beat the butter and sugar in a bowl until fluffy and pale ( or with mom’s help use an electric mixer)
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla essence with a teaspoon of the flour
  • Now add all the flour
  • Add the milk
  • Mix well until the mixture looks smooth
  • Use a tablespoon to share the mixture into the 6 cupcake cases. Don’t fill them to the top
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden
  • Let them cooooool!
  • Ice with coloured butter icing (to make butter icing:beat 1 cup of icing sugar with ½ cup of soft butter, 4 tbs milk, 1 tsp of vanilla essence, a drop of food colouring until the mixture is smooth)
  • Decorate with coloured butter icing and sprinkles
